Optional Essays: How to Explain Low GMAT Score?

Open 0 Answers 749 Views B-School
Whether you are happy with your final GMAT score or not, it will be a business school's preference to take it or not)) So if  it is a good idea to underline your not-so-good scores for b-school by writing an optional essay with the explanation of why GMAT happenned to be not high?
Many think that it is a really bad idea to remind the AdComs what you are trying to not focus on. But! The AdComs will fix GMAT score from the very beginning, and if doesn't suit them, they will START SEEKING AND EXPLANATION of its low results throughout your application package.
So, your optional essay would be an ideal addition to your application package, if you have chosen to explain your low GMAT score, because:
1) take courage and write honestly, why you've failed. This step will demonstrate the AdComs that you CAN ADMIT MISTAKES.
2) analyze your mistakes, give 1-2 reasons and argue what led them to occur: whether it was your own mistake or there were some unreasonable circumstances? Could you change the situation, if you were able to analyze by that time? Show you CAN ANALYZE.
3) offer another scenario with your conclusion on what you are going to apply this experience in your future decisions. Prove you CAN TAKE ACTION.
