Six machines, each working at the same constant rate, together can complete a job in 12 days. How many additional machines, each working at the same constant rate, will be needed to complete the job in 8 days?
A. 2
B. 3
C. 4
D. 6

The questions asks us to calulate the how many additional machines are required to the complete the same quantam of work from 12 days to 8 days.
Let us calculate total work done by 6 machines in 12 days => 6  x 12 = 72 units.
Now, We need to complete this work in 8 days => 8 x ( no of machines )
Since the quantam of work to be completed has to be same so,
72 units = 8  x a
on solving we get a => 9.
Now be careful, we need answer the additional machines. which would be 9 - 6 = 3
hence the answer is B
