What is the greatest possible area of a triangular region with one vertex at the center of a circle of radius 1 and the other two vertices on the circle?

That's correct! The maximum area can be derived when we have a right angled triangle as the altitude gets maximized there. For few quant buffs, this consideration may be intuitive, while for others a little scribbling on the circle will show the path!
